Foster parents worried about DCFS cuts

Foster parents worried about DCFS cuts

Jennifer Gardner is like most foster parents: She's not in it for the money.

Note: Yeah, right.

All the same, as she watches the Utah Legislature begin yet another year of budget belt-tightening, Gardner fears any additional cuts in foster care funding will be crippling.

The DCFS in Utah is rated as one of the worst child protection agencies in the nation. We continue to give more abused babies and children back to their parents. It is such a tragedy. These innocent kids have no protection. I wonder what these workers are thinking? As I looked more into this, many of them do not even have college degrees. It is so heartbreaking and these innocent sweet children continue to pay the price. Yes, the foster care system is no better. What can be done. Why are far more states better at protecting than we are? I wish I knew the answer to that question. Where else can a loser father kill his four month old son and only get six years in prison? We need to clean house.
