Problems At Riverview

Problems At Riverview

An apparent increase in the use of restraints and seclusion on children at the state-run Riverview psychiatric hospital in Middletown, along with the cost of care — $860,000 per year per child — together form a powerful call for accountability on the part of the state Department of Children and Families.

We welcome the recent announcement by state Sens. Edward Meyer and Jonathan Harris that they will conduct a legislative inquiry into operations at Riverview next month and hope it will shed light.
